under the extended info section for any animated PNG, it says:

Animated: No

(nor does it give a frame count)

Since there isn't a "standard" format for animated PNG (like there is with GIF), there aren't many (if any) tools to grab all the metadata for them. Currently most of the animation metadata is grabbed via Gifsicle's C libraries, which is only for GIFs.

As for the color count, I'm pretty sure each frame of the APNG formats has it's own palette, so I'm not sure if it's worth calculating the "true" color count.

There may be some sort of mime-magic I can do to grab animation status and frame counts from the two formats of APNG. I'll look into it.
